Yun Ran (Anni) Yang is a contemporary composer born in 2002, Beijing, China. Anni immigrated to Vancouver, Canada at the age of 7. Growing up with a mother who is an opera singer, she was exposed to extraordinary music at a young age. Her mother showed her the art of expressing the deepest philosophies and narratives through performing music and today she remains to be Anni's greatest inspiration.
Anni began her journey with music at the age of 8 with piano and vocal performance. Throughout her young years, she has traveled to more than 40 different countries while performing at every given opportunity. The richness of different cultures and the uniqueness of their musical expression is something she greatly respects and values. To this day, the St Mark's Basilia Church in Venice is most memorable place she has performed at.
Years later, after intensely studying music theory and harmony, Anni quickly grew into a love for composing. It became clear that music composition was the path she longed to pursue for the rest of her life. Although Anni began composing later in her youth, she continues to build her unique philosophy and musical interpretation. In 2020, Anni was accepted into Berklee College of Music and began her college studies in the fall, with a double major in Film Scoring & Composition and a minor in Psychology. She graduated in 2025 with many great achievements in her field. Since then, she has composed for art films participating in international festivals, managed and directed large performances of her work, and is involved in a wide range of artistic projects.
